Places still available at events on August 23 and September 13 - Helpful information on the topic of dementia

A dementia partner training course as part of the Ludwigsburg district office's "Lust zu helfen" (desire to help) training series will take place on August 23 from 4.30 p.m. to 6 p.m. in Kornwestheim town hall, large meeting room, for interested citizens. A seminar for family caregivers entitled "Self-care in everyday care - simply indispensable!" will be held on September 13 from 2.30 pm to 4.30 pm at the residents' and family center in Kornwestheim.

The "Dementia partner training" course on August 23 from 4.30 p.m. to 6 p.m. will provide information on the clinical picture as well as tips on how to deal with people with dementia. Because people with dementia need relatives, friends, neighbors and colleagues who don't look away. They need people who not only see the illness, but also the whole person with all their abilities, tasks and idiosyncrasies. Dr. Klaus Schaldecker (internal medicine doctor, Kornwestheim) and Sibylle Kostron (PflegeFrei advice center, Ludwigsburg District Office) will be available as speakers and contacts on this afternoon.

Under the motto "Self-care in everyday care" - Simply indispensable!, family caregivers can find out how to plan personal time-outs in everyday care on September 13 from 2.30 pm to 4.30 pm at the residents' and family center in Kornwestheim. Self-care is a key skill for family caregivers. Only those who do not neglect their own needs and respect their own boundaries can be there for others in a caring way. MBSR and mindfulness trainers Dagmar and Siegfried Dannwolf from Kornwestheim will enrich the afternoon with their impulses and practical exercises.

Registration for both events is now open: PflegeFrei advice center: 07141 144-69971, pflegefrei@landkreis-ludwigburg.de. The events are free of charge. The PflegeFrei model project is active in Kornwestheim until December 2022 and supports family caregivers in taking time off to plan. If you have any questions about the topic, you are welcome to make an appointment for a consultation at the above telephone number.
