The non-profit association "Regionalentwicklung Neckarschleifen" supports small projects that serve to preserve steep slope viticulture and the wine culture landscape. 90% of the funds come from the regional budget. The remaining 10% is financed by the eleven member municipalities. The regional budget for small projects is an additional funding pot designated at federal level to strengthen rural areas.
The nine projects that have now received funding for 2022 include, for example, signage for hiking trails, a route into the steep slopes, the renovation of a dry stone wall, snack areas in the vineyards, a mobile wine sales van and a caravan site with a view of the steep slopes. A digital fitness trail is also being funded as a unique project.
The chairman of the association, Mayor Dr. Frauhammer (Gemmrigheim), is delighted with the diversity of the funded projects. As not all of the funding has been used, there has been a second call for funding.
