New traffic lights on the L1125 in Kleinglattbach to promote cycling

Cross the L1125 in Kleinglattbach safely and comfortably: the district of Ludwigsburg has installed a new cycle traffic light on the railroad cycle path. This will be put into operation on Friday, December 12, 2025. It is the first traffic light in the district where cyclists are given priority.

A group of four people on bicycles stands on a pathway in a green field. They are engaged in conversation, wearing helmets and casual outdoor clothing, enjoying a day out together while cycling. The atmosphere appears friendly and relaxed.

The new traffic lights in Kleinglattbach are designed to make cycling more fun.

"With the construction of this new bicycle traffic light system, the district of Ludwigsburg wants to promote cycling, increase road safety and set an example for future-oriented mobility," says Jürgen Vogt, Head of Traffic and First State Official of the district.

When approaching the junction, cyclists are reliably detected with the help of an intelligent camera detection system. The programming is designed in such a way that cyclists receive their clearance exactly when they arrive at the traffic lights. As a result, cyclists generally do not have to stop and can cross the L1125 smoothly and safely.

Cameras can distinguish between bicycles and pedestrians

The signal program was deliberately designed so that both slow-moving cyclists with conventional bicycles and faster cyclists with e-bikes are optimally taken into account. The cameras used are able to differentiate between bicycles and pedestrians and recognize the respective direction of travel. This ensures targeted and reliable gear shifting.
