The award recognizes efforts to achieve greater sustainability and environmental protection in tourism. "The certification is an important confirmation of our work and at the same time an incentive to further strengthen sustainable tourism in the district. We want to show guests and locals alike that travel and sustainable action can go hand in hand," emphasizes Sabine Schönberger, Head of Tourism at the Ludwigsburg District Office.
At the CMT, the district of Ludwigsburg, together with the Stuttgart Transport and Tariff Association (VVS), presented the leisure brochure "20 favorite destinations in the district of Ludwigsburg". This offers a selection of excursion destinations and activities that can be easily reached by public transport.
Attractive leisure destinations for every taste
The brochure includes 20 highlights, divided into themes such as hiking, cycling, history and culture. They range from unique natural wonders such as the Hessigheim Rock Gardens and the Jubilee Cycle Path to cultural and historical treasures such as the Celtic Museum in Hochdorf.
The cultural diversity of the Ludwigsburg district can be experienced and discovered in around 70 museums. This cultural offering is complemented by informative nature trails on the topics of wine, forests, water, geology/nature and agriculture. There is plenty to learn and discover on these educational trails - and all this in an exceptionally beautiful landscape.
Tourism development in the district of Ludwigsburg
The district has been focusing on the development and marketing of cycle paths for years. A particular highlight last year was the inauguration of the anniversary cycle path, which was created as part of the district's 50th anniversary and runs for 162 kilometers through 21 municipalities in the district. In 2025, the district would like to turn its attention to other tourism-related topics. For example, there are plans to make the existing hiking trails in the district accessible to the digital public. Further topics and projects will be coordinated with the district's tourism partners in March.
