More fun for sure

The trend towards pedelecs continues unabated - more and more people are opting for the electric two-wheeler. However, safe riding also requires practice. This is The "radspaß - sicher e-biken" (cycling fun - safe e-biking) project ensures this with appropriate riding safety courses in the district of Ludwigsburg, among others. Interested pedelec users can now book the free cycling fun courses.

A group of children are riding bicycles on a gravel surface, navigating a course marked with small cones. The scene is set in a rural area with houses and trees in the background, under a clear blue sky.

The pedelec is a future-oriented and environmentally friendly means of transportation, and more and more everyday and leisure routes are being covered on them. Maria Bontrup, cycling fun trainer in Vaihingen/Enz: "After the long winter break, I'm looking forward to starting up again. It's fun to teach newcomers how to use their pedelec safely and thus make an important contribution to road safety."

The project started in the Ludwigsburg district in 2021 - and was well received right from the start: The 19 courses on offer were almost always fully booked. Over a dozen courses are already planned for 2022 at training grounds in Vaihingen, Ludwigsburg, Marbach and Pleidelsheim, which can now be booked free of charge.

Lisa Röthinger, who is helping to coordinate the project as the Ludwigsburg district's cycling officer, is certain that more courses will be added: "We have a very motivated team of trainers, so we can count ourselves lucky." In addition to riding technique exercises to train coordination and reaction, the courses also cover road safety topics. Participants rehearse special riding situations to develop a feel for the faster bike. Pedelec riding differs from "conventional" cycling due to the strong acceleration and higher weight. Newcomers should therefore take a little time to get to know the pedelec better and adjust to the new riding experience so that they can then ride safely and have fun on the road.
