Solar systems make an important contribution to producing energy in a more cost-effective and climate-friendly way. Roof surfaces are already often and successfully used for this purpose. The guideline now focuses on open spaces, as there is still a great deal of potential here. However, open spaces often compete with other uses such as agriculture or nature conservation. For this reason, several departments of the district authority have worked closely together to identify solutions for taking into account the various interests involved in the expansion of solar energy on open spaces.
With the new guideline, the district authority has created a sound information basis for planning and implementing solar projects in the district. The aim is to support the expansion of renewable energies efficiently, in an environmentally friendly manner and in harmony with the different land requirements. The guideline is not legally binding.
The guideline provides orientation for finding suitable areas.
A central component of the guideline is a tabular overview. This shows which types of areas may be suitable for solar installations. These include, for example, areas in the vicinity of industrial and commercial sites, green corridors or former vineyards. This provides local authorities and project developers with quick orientation when selecting suitable sites. The guideline also contains important information for successful implementation. This includes aspects such as economic efficiency, the legal framework and public participation.
