District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier visits the Ludwigsburg sports district's summer camp in Untersteinbach

District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier recently visited the Ludwigsburg sports district's summer camp in Untersteinbach (Hohenlohe district). Sportkreis President Matthias Müller gave him a tour of the recreational area. District Administrator Allgaier talked to volunteers, children and young people. He had not come empty-handed: At the end of his visit, he handed out ice cream to the children and young people.

A group of four men is gathered around a table displaying a model of a development project. One man, wearing glasses, is pointing to features on the model, while the others observe and discuss its details. The room is well-lit with large windows.

District Administrator Allgaier (2nd from left) was given a tour of the recreational area by volunteer supervisors of the summer camp. First from the right: Matthias Müller, President of the Ludwigsburg Sports District.

The camp was held for the first time in 1959. The organizing sports group is particularly interested in sporting and community values. The supervisors receive regular training and further training. The camp offers a contemporary standard with modern sanitary facilities, an extensive recreational area and numerous sports facilities. To mark its 60th anniversary in 2019, the district subsidized a new extension, which expanded the kitchen wing and dining room, with 150,000 euros. Since then, the children and young people can eat at the same time as their supervisors and are no longer exposed to capricious weather conditions.

Almost 300 children are attending the two summer camps in Untersteinbach this year, including 20 children from Vaihingen's Hungarian twin town of Köszeg and 13 children of refugees from Ukraine.
