District Administrator visits Mercedes subsidiary AMG

District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier and District Economic Development Officer Oliver Reichert recently visited Mercedes-AMG. Both sides emphasize the importance of a direct exchange between the company and the district administration and want to strengthen this in the future. Mercedes-AMG has grown significantly in recent years, both in terms of personnel and space: with more than 2,200 employees, the workforce has doubled compared to ten years ago. The new delivery hall, where new vehicles are handed over to customers, has recently been completed. Philipp Schiemer, Chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes-AMG GmbH, presented these and other milestones in the company's development at the Affalterbach site to the guests from the Kreishaus and Mayor Steffen Döttinger. AMG is currently building a new test center for testing electrified drives and high-voltage batteries, explained Peter Kriechbaum, Head of Facility Management and Site Development.

Four men stand in a modern interior space, smiling and posing for the camera. A scale model of a car is displayed on a table behind them. Lush green plants are visible in the background, contributing to a professional yet inviting atmosphere.

In addition to strengthening relationships, the District Administrator's series of impulse talks with major companies in the district of Ludwigsburg is always about identifying the need for support today and in the future. "In this way, we create a direct line for the companies to the district administration," emphasized District Administrator Allgaier. Business promoter Oliver Reichert added: "The insights into the companies help us to identify support opportunities and align the content of the district's business development work accordingly."

"As mayor, I am of course delighted about the clear commitment to Affalterbach as a business location," said Mayor Döttinger, who was also very pleased with the meeting. It's not just the positive sales figures that speak for themselves; AMG's engine manufacturing facility has been brought up to date with digital technologies in recent years and was named Germany's "Factory of the Year 2019" by a panel of experts. With the electrification of its vehicle drives, AMG is currently providing impetus for the entire Group, which requires a lot of new knowledge and new employees. As a "think tank", the company benefits from the good location conditions in Affalterbach as well as the excellent reputation of the Stuttgart region and the Ludwigsburg district.
