"It is important for us to keep our word and stay in contact with the towns and municipalities," said District Administrator Allgaier after the event. It is important for both the district administration and the district waste recycling company AVL to build trust with the municipalities and make it clear "that nothing will be decided in secret in this matter", said the district administrator. Representatives from Hemmingen, Großbottwar, Vaihingen/Enz, Schwieberdingen as well as Ditzingen, Eberdingen and Oberstenfeld were invited to the round table - those municipalities that were directly or indirectly affected by the search for a landfill site.
AVL Managing Director Tilman Hepperle explained to the representatives of the municipalities the current developments in the quantities accepted by the two active landfills in the district. Due to the current tense situation in the construction sector, the quantities delivered have declined significantly. According to Hepperle, this is contributing to the fact that the pressure to act in the search for a new landfill site has eased. In addition, talks are being held with the Verband Region Stuttgart (VRS), in which the district and AVL have made it clear that the association must create its own landfill capacities for the volumes under its responsibility, the AVL boss summarized. "The district of Ludwigsburg has fulfilled its obligation for many years and has voluntarily taken over the VRS volumes," emphasized District Administrator Allgaier, "now it is the turn of other districts." In this context, the fact that the district of Esslingen wants to find its own landfill site for the quantities of excavated earth and building rubble under its jurisdiction was considered very welcome. It was also welcomed that the Verband Region Stuttgart now wanted to start a search for suitable landfill sites in the entire Stuttgart region.
District Administrator Allgaier, AVL boss Hepperle and the representatives of the local authorities agreed to remain in discussion. They want to meet again to discuss the current situation at the latest when the Verband Region Stuttgart has finalized its search for sites.
