The Ludwigsburg district's climate protection prize is aimed at pupils or entire school projects that promote climate protection and sustainability in their school, motivate others to get involved and also demonstrate the most creative approach possible to the topic. The prize money amounts to 3,000 euros, which is distributed to the award-winning projects on a staggered basis. This year, these are the Stromberg-Gymnasium in Vaihingen an der Enz, which already received the prize in the summer, and now the Mörike-Gymnasium in Ludwigsburg.
While the importance of climate-friendly and sustainable action is generally recognized, the final step is often missing. At Mörike-Gymnasium, the impulse to "just do it" was added to the knowledge - and the slogan #machhaltigkeit was born. The grammar school was awarded the Ludwigsburg district's climate protection prize for this in 2018. Since then, education for sustainable development has become one of the school's guiding principles and is brought to life every day.
Numerous activities throughout the school year are integrated directly into the pupils' everyday lives, be it through the #machhaltigkeit-AG, themed weeks or project days. Climate protection is also exemplified in the classroom: posters with energy-saving tips, switchable power strips and cardboard waste bins were financed with the prize money from the 2018 Climate Protection Award.
Climate protection will continue to be a top priority at Mörike-Gymnasium in the future. The school is a partner in the "Energy-saving models in the district of Ludwigsburg" project run by the district and city of Ludwigsburg, which starts next year.
