With the updated climate protection concept and the newly developed climate mobility plan, the district council launched two central strategies for the climate-friendly district of the future on July 18 (Ludwigsburg District Office).

In 2023, the members of the Environment and Technology Committee decided that the district should become climate-neutral by 2040. In order to achieve this goal, the updated climate protection concept contains 32 central measures from various fields of action with which the district administration wants to contribute to achieving the ambitious climate targets. One important topic is the expansion of renewable energies. The measures are also intended to promote climate-friendly mobility and the economy and include educational and informational offers. With the update, the climate protection concept has also been designed in such a way that it can be adapted more flexibly to new developments in the future. The content and implementation progress will be published on a digital platform in future.

Climate mobility plan: Model project with exemplary character

The district of Ludwigsburg was also the first district in Baden-Württemberg to draw up a climate mobility plan, for which it took part in a pilot phase of the Ministry of Transport. The plan developed a comprehensive catalog of measures to reduce CO₂ emissions in the transport sector by at least 40 percent by 2030 compared to 2010. The plan is based on a holistic approach to transport planning and takes into account the mobility needs of the population and the economy. The measures in the plan will be implemented in collaboration with the 30 district municipalities that have voluntarily participated in the creation of the climate mobility plan.

Working together towards implementation

Various stakeholders, including the citizens of the district, were able to participate in the creation of the concepts. The implementation of the concepts will also depend on cooperation. The district is counting on the involvement of the municipalities in particular, but also on the commitment of companies and citizens. District Administrator Allgaier emphasizes: "Climate protection is a joint task to which we can all contribute."
