Crisis manager and shaper of the future

Allgaier's time in office to date has been characterized by numerous challenges. Shortly after taking office, the district administration had to deal with the coronavirus pandemic under his leadership. District council meetings were held in hybrid form or in large halls for the first time, special teams implemented federal and state resolutions, district vaccination centers were set up within a very short space of time and contact tracing was carried out. In this extraordinary situation, Allgaier relied on close cooperation with the cities and municipalities, hospitals, aid organizations and employees of the district administration. At the same time, important issues for the future had to be pushed forward despite the crisis.

Housing, steep slopes and economic future

An important contribution to the creation of affordable housing was made with the founding of the citizens' housing cooperative. The aim is to keep apartments permanently in the ownership of the cooperative and to organize development, construction and letting from a single source for the benefit of the citizens.

Under the umbrella brand "Echt-Schön-Schräg", a marketing campaign was also launched to preserve the steep slopes in the district. In addition, a package of measures was developed, the latest result of which is a special steep slope wine that has been available in food retailers since spring 2026.

Also under the leadership of the district administrator, a future strategy for the Ludwigsburg district as a business location was developed together with renowned entrepreneurs from the district. It sets the course for sustainable economic development in times of transformation, digitalization and global change. In the coming years, a total of 20 projects are to be implemented in five key fields of action - including a district-wide craftsmen's parking permit, which will soon make the day-to-day work of many craft businesses easier.

Solid finances despite difficult conditions

In recent years, the district council has passed the district's budgets with broad approval. Particularly against the backdrop of ongoing budget consolidations, it has become clear that under District Administrator Allgaier's leadership, the district finances have managed to remain solid despite difficult municipal conditions. At state and federal level, the district administrator is also a strong advocate for compliance with the principle of connectivity and thus for better financial resources for local authorities.

Numerous projects for the district

The district festival celebrating the 50th anniversary of the district of Ludwigsburg, the expansion of tourist cycle paths, the "Partnerships for Climate Action" climate forum, the development of a digitalization strategy and new management principles at the district office as well as the introduction of process management to optimise administrative processes are among the projects of recent years.

Important investments have also been made in the education sector - for example, by creating modern and attractive classrooms for the Gröninger Weg school and the school village at Favoritepark.

Under Allgaier's leadership, the district also maintains its international partnerships with the province of Bergamo, the Upper Galilee in Israel, the district of Zwickau, the city of Yichang in China and Pest County in Hungary.

The concept for the late-night market was also developed further and offers for a younger audience were integrated. With the first heat action plan in the country, the district also set an early course in the area of climate adaptation.

Responsibility for central facilities

As Chairman of various supervisory bodies, Dietmar Allgaier is also responsible for important institutions and companies, including the Strohgäubahn and Stadtbahn special-purpose associations, AVL and Kreissparkasse Ludwigsburg.

As Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Regionalen Kliniken Holding GmbH, he is also at the helm of the largest provider of inpatient hospital services in Baden-Württemberg. The holding company owns clinics in three districts.

Close to the people

Dietmar Allgaier focuses on dialog, pragmatism and reliability in his management of the company. He attaches particular importance to working in partnership with the towns and municipalities and strengthening volunteering, which plays a key role in shaping social cohesion in the district.

Commitment beyond the region

Dietmar Allgaier is also known beyond the region. Since 2024, he has also been involved as President of VfB Stuttgart, taking on responsibility in one of Germany's most traditional sports clubs. Despite this supra-regional role, the district of Ludwigsburg remains the focus of his political and professional activities.

Professional background

Dietmar Allgaier was born in Stuttgart on June 11, 1966. After attending a commercial vocational college, he initially trained as a state-certified business assistant and obtained a technical college entrance qualification. He then studied at the University of Applied Sciences for Public Administration and Finance in Ludwigsburg and graduated with a degree in Finance (FH).

His professional career began in the early 1990s in financial administration. After working at the Ludwigsburg tax office, he spent many years in the Stuttgart tax investigation department. There he gained extensive experience in positions of responsibility and earned a reputation as a committed and fact-oriented administrative expert.

Local political experience

Parallel to his professional activities, Dietmar Allgaier became involved in local politics at an early stage. From 1998 to 2008, he was a member of the Kornwestheim municipal council. His work in local politics was always characterized by proximity to citizens, reliability and a clear view of the challenges facing towns and municipalities.

In 2008, Allgaier moved into full-time municipal management and became mayor and second deputy mayor of the town of Kornwestheim. Four years later, he took on further responsibility as First Mayor. In this role, he played a key role in shaping the development of the town. His work focused on issues such as urban development, housing construction, infrastructure and economic sustainability. He was also Managing Director of Städtische Wohnbau Kornwestheim GmbH and TechMoteum GmbH, a municipal umbrella organization for start-up companies.

With his election as District Administrator of the Ludwigsburg district in November 2019, Dietmar Allgaier finally took over one of the most important top municipal offices in Baden-Württemberg.

Congratulations on his 60th birthday

Numerous representatives from politics, administration, business and society congratulate him on his 60th birthday. They combine their congratulations with thanks for his many years of commitment to the district of Ludwigsburg and its municipalities as well as best wishes for health, strength and continued success.
