Groups offered by the social psychiatric service for mentally ill people start again in January

The group offers of the social psychiatric service (SpDi) of the health department will be continued from January 12, 2026. These are the SpDi group formats for mentally ill people that were temporarily suspended during the budget consolidation phase. While the Kontaktstüble in Marbach and Vaihingen continued as a self-help group thanks to the support of churches, Diakonie and its volunteers, as well as the Markgröningen Relatives Forum, the services in Ditzingen, Kornwestheim, Bietigheim and the café in Vaihingen remained closed for eight months.

Group offers of the SpDi are voluntary services of the district

The above-mentioned offers are voluntary services of the SpDi of the health department, as the form of care for mentally ill people is not prescribed. As part of the district's budget consolidation, the voluntary services were initially placed on a checklist. However, at the special meeting of the district council at the end of July, it was decided that these services would remain in place.
