After the Supervisory Board appointed Axel Hechenberger as the new commercial director with effect from August 1 on May 13, the search for a medical director to complete the management duo was in full swing. At the Supervisory Board meeting on 10 July, Dr. Marc Nickel prevailed. He will take up his position as Medical Director at RKH Gesundheit on October 1, 2024.
Dr. Nickel has extensive expertise in the development of hospitals. His actions are based on a patient-oriented approach and efficient organization of treatment processes, which leads to employee satisfaction and a sustainable perspective for the company, according to his key messages at the Supervisory Board meeting on 10 July. A medical strategy developed together with managers and employees will form the basis of future work.
Dr. Nickel successfully led Rems-Murr-Kliniken from 2015 to 2022
In his career, Dr Nickel has not only worked as a consultant and project manager for a consultancy specializing in hospitals, but also as managing director of several clinics, where he was responsible for the implementation of medical strategies. In Baden-Württemberg, he is known for his successful management of Rems-Murr-Kliniken from 2015 to 2022, where he created 400 new jobs, increased turnover by 100 million euros and improved earnings by 20 million euros.
"Dr. Marc Nickel is an asset to RKH Gesundheit. Not only does he have extensive experience, but he also knows the regional particularities and the requirements of local authorities. He is also well placed to tackle the upcoming challenges of the healthcare reform, as he has successfully worked at the interface between strategic consulting and corporate management," said Dietmar Allgaier, District Administrator and Chairman of the RKH Supervisory Board, who also spoke on behalf of his fellow shareholders, District Administrator Dr. Christoph Schnaudigel, District Administrator Bastian Rosenau and Lord Mayor Jürgen Kessing. "It is also very important that we were able to recognize from the very first meeting with Axel Hechenberger that a team is forming here. Because that's exactly what we need in these challenging times!"

District Administrator and Chairman of the Supervisory Board Allgaier thanks previous Managing Director Prof. Martin
The contract of the previous Managing Director Prof. Jörg Martin will be terminated on September 30, 2024. "I would like to express my sincere thanks for Prof. Martin's dedicated and outstanding work for RKH Gesundheit over the past eleven years, as well as for the fact that Prof. Martin has enabled an orderly transition," said District Administrator and Chairman of the RKH Supervisory Board Allgaier once again on behalf of all shareholders. "Under his leadership, the clinics have made remarkable progress. Professor Martin has worked tirelessly to improve the quality of care for our patients - especially against the backdrop of the increasingly challenging conditions in the hospital landscape. He has shaped the path of the RKH and we will continue to benefit from his commitment for a long time to come."
