With the introduction of the state funding program "VwV Integrationsmanagement" in 2018, the municipalities in the district were given the unique opportunity to take over the social support for refugees accommodated in the district themselves. 34 of the 39 district municipalities have decided to permanently commission the Ludwigsburg District Office with the task of integration management for refugees who have been accommodated there.
As part of case management, refugees are provided with professionally qualified individual assistance. The report that has now been presented shows clear successes on the housing market, in language acquisition, on the job market and in helping the people receiving support to regain their independence. For this reason, the Social Committee advocated that the state program should be continued beyond 2023. "The social support for refugees who have been accommodated in the district will remain an important building block in the future to ensure that integration in the district of Ludwigsburg is successful in the long term," emphasizes District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier, who also points out that in view of the immense refugee movements from the war zone in Ukraine and the simultaneous increase in refugee movements worldwide, the funds provided are not sufficient to ensure the continued success of integration efforts in the long term.
Info:
The Integration Management / Pact for Integration is a broad network of the Workers' Welfare Association, Caritas, the District Deaconry Association, the District Association of the German Red Cross and the Ludwigsburg District Office and aims to integrate refugees. This also includes placement in language courses offered by the district as part of the VwV Deutsch.
In addition, the district has been offering a monthly trauma consultation since mid-2019. This gives care professionals the opportunity to introduce traumatized people or to seek advice themselves. The consultation involves a one-off assessment by a qualified specialist and the planning of further necessary steps. Integration management incorporates the jointly discussed recommendation into the individual help planning and accompanies the traumatized person through the next steps.
The trauma concept is supplemented by a supervised group service and a residential group for traumatized refugees.
