FLACH goes, the paper garbage can comes

The current waste separation system in the Ludwigsburg district is being changed: From January 1, 2022, FLAX and ROUND will no longer be collected, but paper, so-called lightweight packaging and glass.

Anyone who buys a packaged product in the Ludwigsburg district pays for the disposal and recycling service at the time of purchase. And not to the Ludwigsburger Abfallverwertungsgesellschaft (AVL), but to the so-called dual systems. This is regulated throughout Germany by the Packaging Act of 2019 and means that the dual systems are responsible for packaging waste nationwide. AVL remains responsible for paper, organic and residual waste

From January 1, 2022, AVL will only be responsible for the new paper garbage can and the organic and residual waste garbage cans on behalf of the Ludwigsburg district. Anyone who has questions or would like to order or exchange a paper, organic or residual waste bin can do so, as before, via the AVL ServiceCenter or via the AVL website www.avl-lb.de.

The previous FLACH garbage can will remain in front of the house and be converted into a paper-only garbage can. This means that after the last FLACH emptying in 2021, the FLACH garbage can may only be filled with paper, cardboard and cardboard packaging. Foil and Styrofoam® will then be placed in the new yellow garbage can for lightweight packaging, for which AVL will no longer be responsible.

After the last emptying in December 2021, anyone who has filled the same green garbage can alternately with FLAT and ROUND may only use it as a pure paper garbage can.

The companies PreZero and KURZ are now responsible for glass and lightweight packaging.

The new recyclable fractions glass and lightweight packaging are the responsibility of the dual systems. Lightweight packaging, often abbreviated to LVP, is packaging made of plastic, aluminum, tinplate or composite materials. The dual systems have commissioned the disposal companies PreZero and KURZ to collect these recyclable materials in the Ludwigsburg district. The two disposal companies have set up a website(www.verpackungsabfall-lb.de) and a free telephone hotline on 0800 5893854 to provide information and answer questions about the delivery of the yellow and blue garbage cans. The new bins will be delivered in the coming weeks. The empty RUND garbage cans will be collected from the beginning of 2022. PreZero and KURZ will provide separate information about garbage can delivery and collection. The following also applies here: After the last RUND bins are emptied in 2021, the new bins will be used for lightweight packaging and glass.

Background information: Who are the dual systems?

The dual system was created in Germany as a privately organized, additional, i.e. "dual" collection system alongside the public waste disposal system, which is the responsibility of the municipalities and districts. There are now ten privately organized systems that organize the collection, sorting and recycling of sales packaging throughout Germany. The basis for the work of the dual systems is the Packaging Act. Further information: www.muelltrennung-wirkt.de
