Film "Emilia Pérez" in the "KinoKaffeeFilm" series at the Central Filmtheater on August 19

As part of the "KinoKaffeeFilm" series, the film "Emilia Pérez" will be shown on Tuesday, August 19, at 2.30 p.m. in the Central Filmtheater Ludwigsburg (Arsenalstr. 4). From 2.15 p.m., Dr. Uschi Traub and Carolin Friedrich from the Health Department will provide information on the subject of transidentity. The film will be followed by an interview with a trans man on this topic.

The image features the words "KINO KAFFEE FILM" prominently displayed on a dark blue background. Surrounding elements include popcorn, a camera, a film ticket, and a drink, suggesting a movie-themed event or experience.

Lawyer Rita (Zoe Saldana) is a small light in a big firm: overqualified but underrepresented. Drug dealers, murderers and cartel bosses owe their freedom to her intelligence. Her always corruptible boss basks in the glare of the spotlight afterwards. One day, she is offered a way out: cartel boss Manitas del Monte (Karla Sofía Gascón) wants her help to get out of the mafia world. Rita is to draw a line under his dubious life's work, organize a new life for his wife Jessi (Selena Gomez) and children and implement a plan that he has been preparing in secret for years: to transform himself completely into the woman he has always been deep down: Emilia Pérez. The film was awarded two prizes at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival.

The admission fee of 8 euros includes coffee or tea after the movie. After the screening, those interested will have the chance to find out more about the topic of trans identity in a personal conversation with a trans person. A trans man who has already transitioned from female to male will talk about his path to his true identity. This topic has moved further into the public eye in recent years, more people are dealing with it and are daring to come out. Questions are expressly encouraged and sufficient time is provided for this.

The event is a cooperation between the Stadtseniorenrat Ludwigsburg e.V., the Central Filmtheater Ludwigsburg and the Health Department.
