Transport service for people with disabilities in the Ludwigsburg district: New vehicle in use

LUDWIGSBURG: A new vehicle is now available for the transport service for disabled people. The previous vehicle had been in use since 2012. "I am delighted that a new vehicle is now being used for our transport service, which offers more comfort and is also more environmentally friendly than the previous one with emission class 'Euro 6'," says District Administrator Dr. Rainer Haas.

A white van is parked on a street, featuring a ramp at the rear for accessibility. The vehicle displays logos and text related to local services in Ludwigsburg. Surrounding greenery and buildings indicate an urban environment.

Since 1985, the district has provided financial support for an individual transportation service for disabled people who are unable to use public transportation due to their disability. The aim of the transport service is to enable people with disabilities to take part in social life, visit friends and relatives or events, or run errands themselves.

The transport service concept, which has been offered since 2012, is financed by the district and implemented by Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe and Malteser Hilfsdienst. The service is aimed at disabled people in the district of Ludwigsburg who do not live in a home, have a severely disabled person's pass with the "aG", "H" or "Bl" mark and are unable to use local public transport due to their impairment. Before using the transport service for the first time, eligibility is checked using a questionnaire.

Ride requests should be directed to the Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe control center from Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. by calling 0711 13678945. Ride requests should be made as early as possible, but at least two days before the planned ride. The trips are carried out according to capacity.

The trips are offered from Monday to Saturday from 9 am to 10 pm. On Sundays and public holidays, the transport service is available from 10.00 am to 10.00 pm. In exceptional cases, a ride can also be provided outside these hours. Further information is available on the Internet at www.behindertenfahrdienst-lb.de.
