European competition and European quiz: pupils receive awards at the district hall

Once again this year, numerous schools from the district took part in the "European Competition" creative competition and the "European Quiz". The best classes and pupils were honored at an awards ceremony in the district hall.

A group of students and adults gather indoors, smiling and holding certificates and awards. In the background, flags representing the European Union and Germany are displayed. The setting appears to be an award ceremony or educational event.

District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier (3rd from left) and Dr. Heinz-Werner Schulte (left), CEO of Kreissparkasse Ludwigsburg, presented the three winning classes of the Europe quiz with their certificates and prizes (Ludwigsburg District Office).

Borders in and around Europe - that was the theme of the 71st European competition. "Europe (un)limited" was the motto under which pupils were able to submit their creative and artistic representations. As the oldest competition in Germany, it is aimed at pupils of all ages and school types.

This year, a total of 17 schools from the district with 438 pupils successfully took part in the creative competition. Of these, the Europa Zentrum selected 163 prizewinners. "The number of participating schools and pupils has increased. A pleasing result!" said District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier in his speech. He congratulated all participants and also thanked the teachers for their support.

European quiz: 25 classes from 12 schools took part

In addition to the European competition, the district has once again organized a European quiz for all secondary schools this year. "The district administration would like to awaken and further deepen the interest of children and young people in Europe and the EU," explained Allgaier. "The Europe quiz, which the district is now organizing for the 21st time, is intended to help with this."

This year, 25 classes from 12 schools took part in the Europe quiz - more than ever before. In comparison: in 2023, there were 18 classes from 10 schools. Kreissparkasse Ludwigsburg supports the Europe Quiz with 2,000 euros every year.

And the winner is: Gymnasium Korntal-Münchingen!

The three winning classes were drawn from the eight classes that answered the Europe quiz correctly. First place went to class 10c from Korntal-Münchingen Grammar School, followed by class 9a from Theodor-Heuglin-Schule in Ditzingen-Hirschlanden in second place and class 9d from Ottmar-Mergenthaler-Realschule in Vaihingen Enz in third place.

District Administrator Allgaier presented the prizes together with Dr. Heinz-Werner Schulte, Chairman of the Board of Kreissparkasse Ludwigsburg, and Markus Kleemann, District Councillor and Chairman of the Europa Union of the

Ludwigsburg district association. The first place winners
can look forward to a visit to the European Parliament in Strasbourg. The winning class in second place can visit the European Parliament's information office in Munich. Pupils from the third-placed class each received the game "Legislativity - the game about EU legislation".
