Extension to the Erich Bracher School inaugurated

The extension to the Erich Bracher School (EBS) has been inaugurated. District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier officially appointed Oliver Schmider, Head of EBS, as Managing Principal of the district's vocational schools.

Five professionals stand outside a modern building, smiling and posing for a photo. They are dressed in business attire, surrounded by an outdoor setting with trees and gravel. The group appears to participate in a significant event or meeting.

The extension provides space for nine classrooms, two workshops, seven student workrooms, an SMV room, three teacher workrooms and the administration. The new elevator and a barrier-free toilet will also make inclusive schooling possible in the future. In the next construction phase, the cafeteria, the canteen area and the assembly hall will be modified. Special features of the construction project include the use of recycled concrete, the integration of ventilation slats into the façade of the extension and a photovoltaic system on the roof, which is yet to be installed. "These spatial improvements and the implementation of innovative spatial concepts will make EBS fit for the future," said District Administrator Allgaier. The district had provided more than nine million euros for the conversion and extension work, continued the head of the district administration. This shows that vocational education is very important in the district and that the members of the district council are committed to ensuring that the vocational schools are well equipped.

It was pleasing that the extension had been completed on time: "That really means something in these difficult times," said District Administrator Allgaier. Construction work in the existing building is scheduled for completion in February 2023 and in the assembly hall and canteen area in February 2024.

In 2017, the regional council identified an additional space requirement of around 1,500 square meters for the EBS, a commercial school with a high proportion of vocational schools run by the district. Following the joint development of implementation options and an initial preliminary draft in 2018, the district council made the decision in principle to expand the Erich Bracher School on January 25, 2019. 1,310 square meters were created in the two-storey extension on the existing school grounds. According to current planning, the district is investing a total of 7.6 million euros in the extension and conversion of the existing EBS, with the conversion of the student recreation area costing a further 1.8 million euros.

District Administrator Allgaier then officially appointed Headmaster Oliver Schmider to his additional role as Managing Headmaster of the vocational schools. "I was very pleased that you were chosen because you have already impressed us personally and professionally in your role as principal of the Erich Bracher School since the beginning of 2018, have cultivated good relationships with the teaching staff and have positioned yourself with an eye to the future." This qualifies Schmider for the new additional task, which consists of regulating all matters in the area of the school authority that require uniform treatment. District Administrator Allgaier is very much looking forward to continuing to work with Schmider in both roles: as principal of the Erich Bracher School and as managing principal of the district's vocational schools.
