Tradition Meets the Future
Hemmingen is a town in the Strohgäu region that has retained its village character while being located in the heart of one of Germany’s strongest economic regions. A special landmark is the historic Hemmingen Castle. Since 1985, it has served as the seat of the town administration, thus uniquely connecting history and the present.
In Hemmingen, the energy transition has long been a reality. The municipality boasts a remarkable infrastructure for local and renewable energy supply. A district heating network approximately ten kilometers long already supplies more than 2,000 homes, businesses, and public facilities. In addition, there are solar power systems and other projects aimed at expanding renewable energy. Nearly 90 percent of the electricity Hemmingen needs is generated locally.
Economic Strength in the Heart of the Stuttgart Region
Hemmingen combines its status as an independent economic hub with its close proximity to Stuttgart and Ludwigsburg. Industry, skilled trades, services, and agriculture define the community. At the same time, businesses and employees benefit from the town’s location within the Stuttgart region and its excellent transportation links—including the Strohgäubahn railway.
