Organic waste garbage can will be emptied weekly again from April 13, 2026

With the arrival of spring, the weekly emptying of organic waste garbage cans in the Ludwigsburg district begins again: From Monday, April 13, 2026, the organic waste garbage cans will be emptied every week again. This change applies to the warmer months. It helps to avoid unpleasant odors and maggot infestation - and ensures greater organic waste garbage can cleanliness and hygiene as temperatures rise.

Dispose of organic waste correctly in summer

Especially in the warmer months, it is important to dispose of organic waste correctly and as dry as possible. Kitchen paper, newspaper scraps or egg cartons can help to bind excess moisture in the garbage can. The garbage can should be kept as shady as possible and cleaned regularly. Another tip: line the gaps with cardboard to prevent the waste from sticking. Important: Even though many so-called "compostable" bags are available, they do not belong in the organic waste garbage can. These bags, even if they appear to be biodegradable, are often made of materials that do not fully decompose in the composting process and cause problems in the facilities. AVL therefore asks that you use paper bags instead or wrap moist biowaste in newspaper.

Digital help: app and waste calendar

AVL recommends its free Service+ app to ensure that no collection dates are forgotten. It reliably reminds you of all emptying dates - individually tailored to your place of residence. The app is available in the App Store and on Google Play. Alternatively, citizens can also find a digital waste calendar at www.avl-ludwigsburg.de, which clearly displays all dates.
