After graduating from high school and completing his military service, Wolfgang Bechtle trained as a senior civil servant at the municipal administrations of Marbach and Ludwigsburg. From 1987 to 1991, he was head of the dunning department at the city of Ludwigsburg. In 1991, he joined the Ludwigsburg District Office, where he initially worked in municipal waste law. Bechtle became deputy head of the water law and water technology division at the district office in 1995 and was appointed head of the construction and immission control department in 2004. Bechtle finally became Head of the Department of Environment, Technology and Construction on January 1, 2024.
District Administrator Allgaier wished Bechtle "all the best for his retirement, above all health, happiness and enough time for the things that may have been neglected during his professional life".
Wolfgang Bechtle's successor as Head of Environment, Technology and Construction at the Ludwigsburg District Office has been Kristin Wagner since March 2026.
