Wolfgang Bechtle retires as head of department

Wolfgang Bechtle, Head of Environment, Technology and Construction, retired at the district council meeting on Friday (April 24, 2026). District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier said: "You are someone who leaves your mark - professionally, personally and in terms of atmosphere. People were always at the center of your work. If there was room for discretion, you used it to the advantage of those involved. In all of this, you were always humorous, helpful, clear on the matter and solution-oriented - thank you very much for that."

After graduating from high school and completing his military service, Wolfgang Bechtle trained as a senior civil servant at the municipal administrations of Marbach and Ludwigsburg. From 1987 to 1991, he was head of the dunning department at the city of Ludwigsburg. In 1991, he joined the Ludwigsburg District Office, where he initially worked in municipal waste law. Bechtle became deputy head of the water law and water technology division at the district office in 1995 and was appointed head of the construction and immission control department in 2004. Bechtle finally became Head of the Department of Environment, Technology and Construction on January 1, 2024.

District Administrator Allgaier wished Bechtle "all the best for his retirement, above all health, happiness and enough time for the things that may have been neglected during his professional life".

Wolfgang Bechtle's successor as Head of Environment, Technology and Construction at the Ludwigsburg District Office has been Kristin Wagner since March 2026.
