Thank-you party at Bellevue Palace for dedicated helpers during the coronavirus pandemic: District Fire Chief and KIZ Director Andy Dorroch with the Federal President

Andy Dorroch, district fire chief and organizational head of the Ludwigsburg district vaccination centers (KIZ), received a great honour last Friday: for his special commitment during the coronavirus crisis, he received an invitation to the Federal President's thank-you party at Bellevue Palace in Berlin. The Office of the Federal President presented a varied program for the 600 guests. Around 15 people from Baden-Württemberg were invited to attend with accompanying persons.

Dorroch was impressed by Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier's speech: "Mr. Steinmeier spoke from the heart in many aspects of his speech. I particularly remember his unequivocal statement that young people have shown enormous solidarity with the elderly, the sick and the particularly vulnerable during the pandemic. Mr. Steinmeier pointed out that this fact was far too little recognized, but that he had tremendous respect for the children and young people." Dorroch also very much welcomed his further words about the now reversed expectation on older people to show solidarity with the young. Steinmeier's appeal to all those responsible that Germany must do everything in its power to ensure that children can go back to school every day this school year so that young people are no longer stuck in the starting blocks was rewarded with long applause from the guests. Despite the large number of guests, Dorroch was able to speak briefly with the Federal President in person.

The state government of Baden-Württemberg took the President's invitation as an opportunity for a brief exchange at the state representation. State Secretary Rudi Hoogvliet welcomed the delegation from Baden-Württemberg over coffee and cake. In a short round of introductions, the great commitment and the resulting ideas to combat the corona crisis became tangible.

Andy Dorroch expressed his gratitude for the eventful day, which he was able to experience on behalf of the large number of committed helpers in the Ludwigsburg district.
