Corona pandemic: Bundeswehr supports care facilities in the Ludwigsburg district - A total of 40 soldiers and a coordinator help with rapid testing of visitors, external persons and employees

To combat the coronavirus pandemic, Bundeswehr soldiers are now also being deployed in care homes in the Ludwigsburg district: a total of 40 Bundeswehr soldiers and a coordinator are supporting the facilities with rapid testing of visitors, external persons and employees. The Bundeswehr soldiers are not required to test residents. The participating aid organizations DRK and ASB train the soldiers in cooperation with the Bundeswehr. "I very much welcome the fact that the soldiers are effectively supporting the inpatient care facilities and would like to express my thanks for this," says District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier. Currently, 30 Bundeswehr soldiers are already supporting the work of the investigation and contact tracing team at the district administration's health department.

The Bundeswehr soldiers help out for a period of three weeks. Following this, the support is to be continued by volunteers if there is a further need in the facilities. The Federal Employment Agency is to place the volunteers with the respective facilities.
