Corona crisis: what to look out for when you're in home quarantine

With the rising number of Covid-19 cases in the Ludwigsburg district, more and more people are having to stay at home in quarantine. The health department of the Ludwigsburg district office explains how to behave correctly in isolation.

Domestic quarantine or isolation is ordered by the responsible cities and municipalities. All persons who have contracted Covid-19 themselves or are close contacts of people who have tested positive will receive the order. A close contact person is someone who has been less than two meters away from the infected person for more than 15 minutes.

Home quarantine - what does that mean for me?

I am not allowed to leave my home. Shopping or similar is not allowed. However, after consultation with the public health department, it is possible to go for walks at night or take the dog for a walk, for example. However, the following applies: I must avoid contact with other people at all costs.

In the apartment, I must separate contact with my roommates. I am no longer allowed to sleep in the same room as another person who is not in domestic quarantine. I must also avoid spending time in the kitchen or bathroom at the same time, for example. Of course, good hygiene is important. This includes frequent hand washing with soap as well as observing sneezing and coughing etiquette.

Contact persons must keep a kind of symptom diary during the period of home quarantine. They measure their body temperature twice a day and look out for symptoms such as cough, cold, sore throat or scratchy throat, headache and aching limbs, breathing problems, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain or diarrhea. If any of these symptoms occur during the 14 days of home quarantine, contact persons should immediately contact their family doctor, the public health department or the municipality from which they received the order. Once the symptoms appear, the contact person is now considered to be suspected of being ill.
