Construction begins on 7 July: Heimerdingen station to be modernized

The modernization of Heimerdingen station is another building block towards a modern public transport service in the Strohgäu. Construction work to extend and raise the platform there and make it barrier-free will start on July 7, 2025. Most of the construction work was deliberately scheduled for the summer vacations in order to minimize restrictions for passengers.

A vibrant yellow train with green circular patterns travels along a railway surrounded by fields. The sky is partly cloudy, adding a serene backdrop to the scene. The train is approaching a station or destination, showcasing its modern design.

During the construction work from July 7 to September 13, 2025, trains on the Strohgäubahn will not be able to call at Heimerdingen and Hemmingen stations. All trains will terminate in Schwieberdingen.

During the construction period, a replacement bus service will be set up on the Schwieberdingen - Hemmingen - Heimerdingen route. In Schwieberdingen station, there is a connection to the replacement buses and the Strohgäubahn trains.

The replacement bus service will be supplemented by a morning express bus Heimerdingen - Hemmingen - Korntal, which will replace the regular school train. Like the school train, the express bus only runs on school days and ends at the start of the summer vacation.

Route of the rail replacement service:

Heimerdingen station - Hemmingen town hall - Hemmingen Schwieberdinger Straße - Hemmingen Hälde - Hemmingen Münchinger Straße - Schwieberdingen Glemstal - Schwieberdingen station

Route of the express bus (only on school days):

Heimerdingen station - Hemmingen town hall - Hemmingen Münchinger Straße - Korntal Bergstraße - Korntal station (Warthstraße) - Korntal Hauffstraße

The timetable for the replacement service is available on the WEG, ZSB and VVS websites. The train timetables remain unaffected by the changes.

From Sunday, September 14, 2025, the Strohgäubahn will run according to its normal timetable again.
