For people with sensory impairments, it is a blessing when tourist offers can be read aloud or an interactive system communicates with a hearing aid or smartphone. For people with limited mobility, it is helpful if floors have a special non-slip surface and rooms are designed to meet the requirements. Guidance systems and pictograms help people to find the right way.
There are many examples of how "travel for all" can be made easier. The aim of the "Barrier-free tourism" project is to encourage local authorities in the district of Ludwigsburg, tourism associations, nature parks, companies and associations in their commitment to barrier-free tourism and to strengthen and reward their ideas and approaches.
Accessible tourism is supported by a quality seal from the Ludwigsburg district, which the award winners can use to promote themselves. The award is also endowed with earmarked prize money. The selection is made by a high-caliber expert selection committee.
The variety of offers, the inclusion of a variety of target groups under the motto "Travel for All" as well as the quality of the offers should make the district of Ludwigsburg attractive and sustainably interesting for guests. Existing offers can be specifically advertised under the label and new opportunities for tourism can be created.
The tourism prize is being awarded for the first time and will be announced every two years in future. All municipalities, tourism communities, nature parks, companies and associations in the district of Ludwigsburg can apply until May 31, 2022.
