The fast fashion trend has serious consequences

Every year, millions of metric tons of clothing end up in landfills worldwide—often even though many items are still in good condition or have never even been worn. The ongoing trend of so-called fast fashion means that clothing is being bought faster and faster and discarded just as quickly. The consequences are severe: The production of textiles requires immense amounts of water, energy, and chemicals, while mountains of textile waste continue to grow. Yet every single piece of clothing that is used for longer can make an important contribution to environmental protection. By passing clothes on and reusing them, we can conserve resources, reduce CO₂ emissions, and prevent waste.
