Kick-off event for the district-wide "Stop measles!" campaign on July 13

Measles epidemics - measles deaths - compulsory measles vaccination - the topic of "measles" is on everyone's lips. In the district of Ludwigsburg, however, only a few municipalities achieve the necessary vaccination rate of 95 percent for the recommended two measles vaccinations. On the initiative of the Ludwigsburg Municipal Health Conference, a district-wide model campaign "Stop measles!" will therefore be launched in Vaihingen/Enz and Ludwigsburg on July 13.

At the kick-off event, a bus with a logo and mascot will travel to Vaihingen/Enz and Ludwigsburg. Advice sessions, information material, a wheel of fortune with questions about measles and vaccination for young and old, massage devices for adults and an exhibition on the topic of "measles" inside the bus will be offered on site.

The patron of the campaign is Federal Minister of Health Jens Spahn. The aim of the campaign is to raise public awareness of the issue and educate people about measles. As part of the campaign, which is planned to run for one to two years, various target groups are to be addressed using different media - a public bus that travels through the district, a homepage, recall cards for doctors' surgeries, information stands with banners, roll-ups and mascots, posters for daycare centers, doctors' surgeries, etc., information material for municipalities, city postcards for young adults in bars, cafés, etc.

Other urban and rural districts can adopt elements of the campaign if they are interested. The Ludwigsburg medical profession, the health department of the Ludwigsburg district office, the health insurance companies AOK, BARMER and mhplus, the State Chamber of Pharmacists, the Ludwigsburg Sports Association and the Baden-Württemberg Accident Insurance Fund are all involved.

The stop on Saturday, July 13, will be in Vaihingen/Enz in Mühlstraße from 10:00 to 11:00 and in Ludwigsburg on Rathausplatz from 12:00 to 13:30. In Vaihingen/Enz, Lord Mayor Gerd Maisch will support the campaign, in Ludwigsburg Lord Mayor Werner Spec.
