District Administrator Allgaier: Swabbing capacities are being continuously increased - Second test site at Ludwigsburg Clinic now in operation

"Due to the constantly increasing demand, the number of swabs is constantly being increased. Currently, 210 swabs are possible every day," writes District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier in his response to a corresponding question from Fabian Gramling, member of the state parliament. In addition, a second testing station went into operation on Tuesday (March 24) directly next to the existing one at Ludwigsburg Hospital, so that testing is now taking place every two minutes.

Dietmar Allgaier also clarifies in his response that the number of daily swabs can only be increased to the extent that laboratory capacity can also be increased. For this reason, and because the existing test centers would still have capacity if opening hours were extended, the establishment of a "drive-through" test center is not to be advocated. In addition, a proper diagnostic assessment would be more difficult in a drive-through. A conscious decision was made to set up the test centers at the hospital because they are the best professional solution.

District Administrator Allgaier welcomes Gramling's initiative to provide impetus in the corona crisis at state level. "I am convinced that if we pull together, we will overcome the coronavirus crisis," concludes Allgaier.
