On January 28: Complete closure of the K 1684 between Untermberg and Unterriexingen due to tree maintenance work

On January 28, the K 1684 between the exit of Untermberg and the K 1684 / L 1141 junction will be fully closed to traffic due to urgent tree maintenance work in the narrow bend area of the K 1684, which is necessary for road safety reasons. The work is being carried out in cooperation between the town of Bietigheim-Bissingen and the road and forest departments of the Ludwigsburg district.

A roadblock is featured with a red and white barrier, and a circular road sign indicating 'no entry.' There is a yellow sign pointing to the right labeled "Umleitung," which means "detour" in German. Several warning lights are positioned at the top of the barrier.

The wood maintenance work in the slope area above the curve is necessary because the ash trees there are affected by ash dieback. Ash trees affected by the fungal disease show necrosis on the trunk in addition to the dying off of the shoots and increasing bush encroachment in the crown area, which leads to a reduction in the stability of the trees and therefore poses a risk to the road and road users.

The district of Ludwigsburg has commissioned a specialist to carry out the work. In order to prevent any danger to road users during the felling work, a local detour will be signposted via the L 1141 and the L 1110. Once the work has been completed and the roadway cleaned, the road section will be reopened to traffic immediately.
