Action Day: A Strong Message for the Prevention of Cardiovascular Diseases

The Ludwigsburg district is one of the districts in Baden-Württemberg with the highest number of heart attacks. To counter this trend and raise public awareness about a health-conscious lifestyle, the Health Department of the District Administration, in cooperation with the RKH Ludwigsburg Hospital, recently hosted a free health awareness event. Numerous residents took advantage of the opportunity to learn in detail about the prevention of cardiovascular diseases.

Experts gave presentations on various aspects of the topic

Prof. Dr. med. Christian Wolpert, Medical Director of the Department of Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Nephrology, and Internal Medicine Intensive Care at Ludwigsburg Hospital, spoke about the most common heart diseases and emphasized the specialized care provided by the hospital to the Ludwigsburg district.

Dr. Frauke Schön, a senior physician at the Department of Neurology at Ludwigsburg Hospital, explained in her presentation the warning signs of a stroke and how effective targeted prevention can be.

Filiz Ugur, a dentist with the Ludwigsburg District Health Department, introduced visitors to an often-underestimated aspect of prevention: “Good oral and dental hygiene not only protects your teeth but also makes a scientifically proven, valuable contribution to overall cardiovascular health. We wanted to raise awareness of this today.”

Personal Testimony from a Stroke Survivor as an Emotional Highlight

In addition to medical presentations, a “Market of Opportunities” featuring interactive information booths run by health insurance providers, the City of Ludwigsburg, cardiac rehabilitation groups, and support organizations offered practical insights and direct counseling.

A special and emotional highlight of the program was the personal testimony of a woman living with a chronic heart condition, who shared profound and encouraging insights into her daily life with the audience.

Saving Lives Through Proper Prevention and a Healthy Lifestyle

“The high turnout shows just how great the public’s need for information is. Through timely education, proper preventive care for cardiovascular diseases, and a healthy lifestyle, we can save lives together,” said Dr. Christine Oexle, a physician in the Ludwigsburg District Health Department, summarizing the event.

Cardiovascular Health in the Ludwigsburg District

Since cardiovascular diseases remain the leading cause of death in Germany and the Ludwigsburg district is among the districts in Baden-Württemberg with the highest number of heart attacks and hospitalizations due to heart attacks, the Ludwigsburg Public Health Department will continue to focus on this topic throughout the remainder of 2026 with a wide range of informational resources.
