Awareness Day at the Hospital for the Prevention of Cardiovascular Diseases

Cardiovascular diseases remain the leading cause of death in Germany. Anyone interested in learning how to prevent heart attacks, strokes, and other conditions—and what role a healthy lifestyle plays in this—is invited to attend the free information event “Cardiovascular Diseases—Your Heart Matters!” on Saturday, June 20, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the lecture hall of the RKH Ludwigsburg Hospital.

A varied program

The event is organized by the Ludwigsburg District Health Department in collaboration with the cardiology and neurology clinics and other partners. Visitors can look forward to a varied program featuring expert presentations, personal testimonials, and numerous information booths.

Those affected share personal insights into their lives

In the hospital’s lecture hall, experts will provide information on heart and brain diseases and how to prevent them. The connection between oral and dental health and cardiovascular health will also be explored. A patient will also share stories from her daily life with a heart condition and offer personal insights into her life.

Experts provide information

Prof. Dr. med. Christian Wolpert, Director of the Department of Internal Medicine and Cardiology at Ludwigsburg Hospital, will speak about common heart conditions such as heart attacks and atrial fibrillation, as well as effective preventive measures.
Dr. Frauke Schön, Senior Physician at the Department of Neurology at Ludwigsburg Hospital, presents the most common neurological diseases and explains how they can be treated and, if possible, prevented.
Filiz Ugur, a dentist with the Ludwigsburg District Health Department, provides information on current developments in oral and dental health and explains why good oral hygiene is also important for cardiovascular health.

“Market of Opportunities” in the hospital lobby

The lecture program is complemented by a “Market of Opportunities” in the hospital lobby. There, health insurance companies, aid organizations, and other partners will present their services and invite visitors to participate and learn more at interactive booths.

Participation is free of charge; registration is not required.

Focus on Cardiovascular Health

The Ludwigsburg district is among the regions in Baden-Württemberg with a comparatively high number of heart attacks. That is why the Health Promotion and Health Planning Division of the District Office is devoting particular attention to this topic this year. Through various campaigns and informational resources, the goal is to raise awareness of prevention and early detection and to encourage the population to adopt a healthy lifestyle.
