Pressure on agricultural land is high—especially in the densely populated Ludwigsburg district. Agri-PV systems offer the opportunity to use land for both agricultural purposes and solar power generation at the same time. In this way, they can help alleviate land-use conflicts between food production and the energy transition. The agri-PV system in Bad Rappenau demonstrates how this concept works in practice. Spanning 23.9 hectares, the vertical system already generates electricity for more than 2,000 households. At the same time, 85 percent of the original farmland can still be cultivated.
Insights from the Field: Economic Viability and Community Participation
How can agri-PV be integrated into a farm? What economic factors need to be considered, and how can the project be successfully implemented in collaboration with a community energy cooperative? Participants will receive answers to these and other questions during the field trip on Wednesday, November 11, 2026, from 12:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
A farmer and a representative of the BürgerEnergieGenossenschaft Kraichgau eG will discuss the project’s origins and energy-related aspects. This will be followed by a tour of the facility. During the tour, participants will have the opportunity to ask questions directly to those involved in the project and learn about real-world experiences. The meeting point is the Sinsheim Community Energy Cooperative, Neulandstraße 25, 74889 Sinsheim. Participants are responsible for their own transportation.
Free admission – registration required
The excursion is primarily aimed at farmers. If spaces are available, other interested individuals may also participate. Participation is free of charge, and refreshments will be provided. Since the number of participants is limited to a maximum of 25 people, advance registration is required.
