Vaccinations should be completed no later than 10 to 14 days before departure
A travel medicine consultation is recommended about three to four months before departure to allow sufficient time for necessary vaccinations and vaccination series. In some countries, proof of vaccination is also required when applying for a visa. Ideally, all necessary vaccinations should be completed no later than 10 to 14 days before departure. Every trip can also be used as an opportunity to review your standard vaccination coverage in accordance with the recommendations of STIKO (Standing Committee on Vaccination at the Robert Koch Institute) and, if necessary, to complete or update it.
Travelers can obtain further important information from the Federal Foreign Office as well as from the consulates of their respective destination countries.
