From March 30: K 1653 between Heimerdingen and the K 1653 / K 1654 traffic circle closed for around five months

The district administration is upgrading the K 1653 between the Heimerdingen exit and the K 1653 / K 1654 traffic circle. This will require the district road to be closed for around five months. The closure will begin on March 30. Detour routes will be signposted.

A roadblock is featured with a red and white barrier, and a circular road sign indicating 'no entry.' There is a yellow sign pointing to the right labeled "Umleitung," which means "detour" in German. Several warning lights are positioned at the top of the barrier.

The upgrade is urgently needed to improve road safety and to repair the numerous road damages, some of which are considerable. The road widening work is expected to last until mid-September.

The expansion will take place in two construction phases. In the first construction phase, from March 30, the entire K 1653 district road will be fully closed from the end of Heimerdingen up to and including the K 1653 / K 1654 traffic circle. This construction phase will last around four weeks. During this period, traffic coming from Heimerdingen will be widely diverted via the L 1177, L 1140 and L 1136 via Hemmingen to Hochdorf and on to Eberdingen on the K 1687. The detour route also applies in the opposite direction.

Once the traffic circle has been opened to traffic, the first construction phase will be completed. Following this, work will only be carried out on the K 1653 district road between the exit of Heimerdingen and the K 1653 / K 1654 traffic circle until the construction work is completed. The traffic circle can then be used again. The detour route will be signposted accordingly.

The district has allocated around 1.9 million euros for the construction work. The district authority asks road users and residents for their understanding for the disruption caused.
