In October 2020, work began on the renovation of the road surface on the L 1140 between the industrial area in Heimerdingen and the level crossing of the Strohgäubahn in the forest near Hemmingen.
From Monday, October 18, the road builders will now tackle the second construction phase of the renovation work from the level crossing to the entrance to Hemmingen. The work is expected to last until the end of the fall vacations.
The existing carriageway has deep ruts and cracks in some areas. As part of the resurfacing work, the top two asphalt layers will be replaced, as well as the entire asphalt package in the area of larger depressions. The existing asphalt package will also be reinforced by six centimetres in order to cope with the increased volume of heavy goods traffic.
The section of road from the junction with Falkenstraße must be fully closed for the work. The L 1140 will remain accessible for residents in Heimerdingen up to the junction with the northern industrial estate.
A detour has been set up via the K 1654 and the K 1653 in both directions. In Eberdinger Straße, the bottleneck will be removed as a crossing aid during the detour period and replaced by temporary pedestrian traffic lights.
To invest in the infrastructure, the state is providing the road builders from the district office with 350,000 euros for the renovation work.
The Ludwigsburg District Office asks all road users, residents and passengers for their understanding in the event of any traffic obstructions.
