The donations will help, among other things, to better equip the bunkers in the Upper Galilee for those in need, to provide first aid material, to maintain school operations by purchasing tablets and laptops for homeschooling or to provide mental and psychological support for those affected.
District Administrator thanks all those involved and donors
"I would like to thank everyone involved, above all the State Police Orchestra under the direction of conductor Prof. Stefan R. Halder, the Kreissparkasse Ludwigsburg, which provided us with the Louis-Bührer-Saal for the concert and also made a generous donation, as well as all donors and participants," said District Administrator Allgaier. It was also pleasing that many people responded to the appeal for donations regardless of whether they attended the concert or not.
Connected for 40 years: Ludwigsburg district supports Israeli partner region
The Upper Galilee has been on friendly terms with the district of Ludwigsburg for 40 years, and the region has been an official partner region of the district for 25 years. Since Hamas' brutal attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, the situation on the ground has been precarious: upto 95% of the population of the Upper Galilee, who live directly on the border with Lebanon, have since been evacuated in order to be safe from Hezbollah attacks. High schools and elementary school have been closed and alternative educational facilities set up. Care facilities have had to move to shelters, the local hospital is housed in a protected infirmary and is always ready to receive the wounded and war victims.
Not giving up hope for peace
"The solidarity concert was a sign of our solidarity with the people of the Upper Galilee," said Allgaier. "We are in constant contact with our friends on the ground and see how much they are suffering from the war in their country." His counterpart Giora Salz addressed the guests in a video message during the concert and expressed his hope that "the sounds of music will find their way to the East and soon replace the thunder of the cannons". "We carry this hope within us every day anew," concluded District Administrator Allgaier.
