The results over the past two decades are impressive: Since opening, over 770,000 items have been accepted, refurbished, and successfully resold through the goods exchange, rather than ending up in bulk waste or the trash. In total, this amount corresponds to a volume of approximately 38,380 cubic meters—or about 960 40-cubic-meter containers filled to the brim. As a result, roughly 4,000 metric tons of waste have been prevented over the past 20 years. “For two decades, Warenwandel has been a place where sustainability can be experienced in a very tangible way. Items in good condition remain in circulation and find a new home instead of ending up in the trash,” said AVL Managing Director Tilman Hepperle.
Anniversary Promotions as a Thank-You for 20 Years of Waste Prevention at
During the promotional period, customers will receive a 20 percent discount on purchases totaling 20 euros or more. Donating items in good condition will also be specially rewarded during the anniversary celebration. Anyone who donates items or furniture at the donation drop-off point will receive two stamps instead of one on their “Frequent Donor Card” during the promotional period. With the Frequent Donor Card, the secondhand department store rewards regular donations. Typically, one stamp is awarded for each donation. Once the card is completely filled, participants will receive a small gift of their choice from a provided selection as a token of appreciation. This is Warenwandel’s way of thanking everyone who, through their purchases and donations over the past two decades, has contributed to the success and sustainability of the store.
Warenwandel is located at Maybachstraße 10 in Ludwigsburg. Items accepted include, for example, furniture in good condition such as tables, shelves, and beds, as well as decorative items, toys, and working electrical appliances. Items not accepted include, among others, hygiene products, CDs, mattresses, and helmets.
