130,000 euros raised for a good cause

The Tour Ginkgo donation cycle tour through the district of Ludwigsburg raised around 130,000 euros, which have now been handed over to the "aufwind - Bunter Kreis Ludwigsburg" association at the district administration office.

For two days, the Tour Ginkgo cyclists rode through the district to draw attention to the situation of sick children and raise a total of 130,000 euros in donations and sponsorship money. "We are absolutely thrilled with the huge sum that we can use to give many families in the Ludwigsburg district a much-needed boost!" says a delighted Prof. Dr. Jochen Meyburg, 1st Chairman of aufwind e.V. Bunter Kreis Ludwigsburg. The Ludwigsburg District Office also took part with the sale of ginkgo trees, which raised 1,200 euros in donations.

District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier, who together with Prof. Meyburg personally welcomed the participants of the bike tour and sent them on the approximately 200-kilometre route, is delighted with the success of the campaign and the numerous donations. "It is a matter close to my heart to support the aufwind Bunter Kreis Ludwigsburg association and thus every year 80 to 100 families in the district of Ludwigsburg with prematurely born, seriously or chronically ill children in coping with the immense burden after hospitalization," emphasizes the district administrator.

"130,000 euros for aufwind and therefore for extremely premature and seriously ill children in the Ludwigsburg district is a great success. On behalf of aufwind, I would like to thank the Christiane Eichenhofer Foundation and everyone involved. It's great to know that District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier, with his big heart, is in the right place at the side of our association, thank you very much," says Markus Stammberger, patron of aufwind e.V.

"Our goal was to collect at least 100,000 euros in donations. We clearly topped that," says Christiane Eichenhofer, delighted with the success of the charity tour. "The atmosphere was really great and everyone was delighted that we were on the road again as the Tour Ginkgo family to raise awareness of the aufwind Bunter Kreis Ludwigsburg association and collect donations. In any case, the Tour Ginkgo has really come back to life and has taken up fundraising for seriously ill children with incredible energy and enthusiasm."

The Tour Ginkgo is an initiative of the Christiane Eichenhofer Foundation and has been on the road for sick children for 30 years. 100 cyclists in yellow jerseys with 20 helpers were back on the road through the region after a two-year break due to the coronavirus pandemic.
