The board of the non-profit organization has approved the accession of the district of Ludwigsburg to the international Climate Alliance of European Cities with Indigenous Rainforest Peoples / Alianza del Clima e.V.. The district of Ludwigsburg has thus committed itself to comprehensive and fair climate protection in accordance with the Climate Alliance members' charter. "Through its membership of the Climate Alliance, the district of Ludwigsburg would like to intensify local climate protection efforts and focus more strongly on the aspect of climate justice," emphasizes District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier.
The district of Ludwigsburg wants to take on a more exemplary role for the public sector in climate protection and take on the challenge of maintaining liveable regions here and elsewhere in the world for the future. This is linked to a large number of measures, both within the administration and aimed at the public, such as the current launch of the climate mobility plan in the district of Ludwigsburg. The aim of all efforts is to counteract the threat of global warming with ambitious climate protection measures.
A visible sign of this is the new logo with the motto "Climate protection is our mission" as an umbrella brand for all of the district's climate protection activities. The district of Ludwigsburg has been committed to climate protection for many years. A district-wide climate protection concept was adopted back in 2015, which has since been implemented at numerous levels by a wide range of stakeholders. For example, the district has increasingly expanded its activities in the area of cycling and sustainable mobility and will be even more active in this area in the future. The existing climate protection concept with a large number of fields of action and specific measures will be updated from 2023. "Climate protection is one of the key global challenges for securing a future worth living," says District Administrator Allgaier. "According to the motto 'Think globally, act locally', the district and its municipalities are also obliged to make their contribution here."
