District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier bids farewell to District Archivist Dr. Thomas Schulz - "It was always exciting to delve into history"

District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier has bid farewell to district archivist Dr. Thomas Schulz, who is retiring at the end of the year. He thanked Schulz for his "many years of good work and great commitment to the history of the district". Dr. Thomas Schulz's successor as district archivist is Wolfram Berner.

Two men stand smiling in an office setting. One man is dressed in a suit with a tie, while the other wears a black sweater and suit pants. They appear to be engaged in a friendly conversation, with an office desk and large window in the background.

Schulz has held the position since August 1988, a total of more than 34 years. During this time, he compiled and edited numerous publications on the history of the district, expanded the archive holdings by taking over old files from the main registry and intensified the maintenance of the municipal archives. He also edited 25 volumes of the Ludwigsburger Geschichtsblätter from 1998 to 2022. His successor Berner will take over the latter from 2023.

"It was always exciting to delve into the history of the district and its towns and municipalities, based on well-founded sources. The good cooperation with colleagues in the city and municipal archives as well as the local history societies and the volunteer caretakers of local history in the municipalities was also always important," said Schulz at his farewell.
