A new home for a certain period of time

The district administration's foster care service is currently looking for more host families to take in unaccompanied refugee children and young people. There is also great demand for other areas of standby and full-time care. Single people or civil partnerships can also apply for this.

A family of three sits outdoors; a young girl smiles while being hugged by her parents. The text calls for attention to a temporary home program, providing contact information for inquiries.

Not only refugee children and young people from Ukraine, but also from other countries from which they have been forced to flee due to war and great hardship, need a home - temporarily or for a longer period of time. "We are once again increasingly looking for families, single people and civil partnerships to spontaneously take in children aged 0-18 for a limited period of time," says Regina Wißmann-Hähnle, Head of the Foster Children's Service at Ludwigsburg District Office. Children with disabilities are also looking forward to a new home.

In contrast to full-time care, standby care is primarily intended for emergencies. Potential foster parents and individuals are prepared for taking in a child in a multi-stage qualification process. In addition to suitability, there must be a willingness to take in a child without a long period of preparation, to deal with any problems they bring with them and then to part with a foster child who has become dear and familiar.

People who are prepared to give a child a long-term home and to commit themselves as foster parents are also urgently needed.
