Regional election

on 9 June 2024

Regional Assembly of the Federation Region of Stuttgart

Although the Federation Region Stuttgart is not a local self-governing body, the Regional Assembly is also elected in accordance with the provisions of local election law. The election takes place every five years together with the municipal and county council elections. The last election taked place on 26 May 2019.

Germans who have reached the age of 16 and have lived in the federation region's territory for at least three months are entitled to vote. Those who have reached the age of 16 are eligible for election.

The constituency is divided into the electoral constituencies of the city of Stuttgart and the five counties of Böblingen, Esslingen, Göppingen, Ludwigsburg and Rems-Murr-Kreis. Voting in these constituencies is based on list election nominations. Each person entitled to vote has one vote.

The allocation of seats to the election nominations will initially take place within the constituencies in accordance with the maximum number procedure set out by Sainte-Laguë/Schepers. A proportional equalisation process is subsequently carried out at the constituency level (federation area). The seats allocated to the nominations will be allocated to the listed candidates in the order in which they appear on the nomination list.
