Together with the Kreissparkasse Ludwigsburg, the county maintains a country education centre in Strümpfelbrunn as a foundation under public law. Management is carried out by Sub-department 63.
The following tasks are involved:
- Conclusion of occupancy contracts with schools, youth groups etc.
- Preparation and execution of budget
- Recruitment and dismissal of staff
- Construction measures and building maintenance
- Preparation and execution of meetings of the foundation board
- Public relations, advertising
district archive
The county archive was founded in 1978.
Its tasks include:
- Assessment and archiving of documents of the county administration
- Assembling and supervision of collection holdings on the county's history
- Consulting of the district communities on archival and registry matters
- Promoting local-regional conservation
- Researching and presenting the county's history
- Supporting the district communities in producing local historical publications
- Historical education and outreach work (lectures, publications)
- Cooperating with history associations (coordinating the local-regional conservation meetings in the county) Writing the "Ludwigsburger Geschichtsblätter"

District Media Centre
The District Media Centre Ludwigsburg lends media and equipment for schools and youth and adult education centres in the county of Ludwigsburg. These include all general education schools, vocational schools, technical colleges and adult education centres as well as the Pedagogical University. Rental media are primarily DVDs and online media that are suitable for use in the classroom. Rental devices are used to demonstrate these media, especially projectors, beamers, screens as well as photo and video cameras, audio equipment, etc.
In addition to media and equipment rental, the County Media Centre also offers advanced training events, seminars and workshops on the sensible use of media in teaching and on the use of computers in schools.
In addition, the County Media Centre promotes and supports active work with media in the areas of photography, video and audio, from photographic history to video films and radio plays.
The main office of the County Media Centre is located in the County District Office in Ludwigsburg, the "branch" is located in the County District Office branch office in Vaihingen/Enz.

External loan services and public specialist library
External Loan Services
External Loan Services are responsible for the comprehensive supply of literature to the libraries of the county.
- Loans only to local libraries in the county Ludwigsburg in the form of book blocks and also individual loans.
- Procurement of special literature from the City Library Ludwigsburg, the Library Service Centre and the Specialist Library in the Vocational School Centre in Ludwigsburg.
- Providing media packages on various topics.
- Counselling for unofficially managed libraries.
- Research for local libraries that do not have Internet access.
The approx. 35,000 media of the External Loan Services consist of fiction, non-fiction, children's and youth literature, literature CDs and language courses. The lending of the media is free of charge.

Public Specialist Library
The specialist library in the Vocational School Centre at Römerhügel was originally set up for its teachers and pupils. Now it is open to anyone interested in continuing education. The library is increasingly involved in school education through team and project work.
There are currently about 17,500 books, journals and other media in the holdings of the Public Library. The focus is on professional literature in the fields of economics, technology, musical instrument making, pedagogy (especially preschool education), home economics and nutrition, care and health care. In addition, literature on general education subjects is offered. Approximately 700 media are used especially for exam preparation.
The joint online catalogue (Web-OPAC) of the Public Specialist Library and the External Loans Services enables a targeted search for books and media. The location of the books/media is shown in the detailed display.
In addition, it is possible for readers of the Public Library to borrow digital media (e.g. eBooks) via OnleiheBibliothekLB.

Education Office in the County of Ludwigsburg

Since 1 January 2011, the county has participated in the "Educational Regions" impulse programme led by the state of Baden-Württemberg through the establishment of the educational region in the county of Ludwigsburg. Its aim is to provide all children and young people with the best possible educational opportunities. In order to achieve this, it is necessary for all persons and institutions important for education to work closely together and coordinate their programmes and learn from each other through exchange.
In the education region, the Regional Steering Group, chaired by President Dr. Haas, acts as the supreme decision-making body and is responsible for overall strategy. The main actors involved in the education and training of young people are represented here. The main tasks of the Regional Steering Group include the adoption of fundamental decisions and thematic priorities. The managing unit of the education region is the Education Office.
The education region is currently dealing with the priority topics "transition kindergarten - school", "language promotion in primary school" and "transition school - occupation". Project groups (expert committees) have been formed for these areas, which, together with the Regional Education Office, are carrying out the concrete implementation of the steering committee decisions.
Since 1 September 2017, the county has participated in the state programme "Model project for redesigning the transition from school to work in Baden-Württemberg". The Regional Transition Management (RÜM), which coordinates the activities and actors in the transition between school and occupation locally, is located in the Ludwigsburg county education region. Since the 2017/2018 school year, the Robert Franck School has offered a new dual training preparation course (AV dual), the Mathilde Planck School has done the same as of the 2018/2019 school year. The AV dual guides, who accompany AVdual pupils in their transition from school to work, are located at the training office.
